CINCINNATI — The Minnesota Vikings announced the following players will be inactive for their Week 15 road game at the Cincinnati Bengals:
Running back Alexander Mattison
Safety Lewis Cine
Quarterback Joshua Dobbs (emergency QB)
Tight end Nick Muse
Guard Chris Reed
Tackle Brian O'Neill
Receiver Jalen Nailor
Mattison and O'Neill suffered ankle injuries on Sunday at Las Vegas, where Jalen Nailor endured a helmet-to-helmet hit that placed him in concussion protocol.
The Vikings are returning right guard Ed Ingram to the lineup after the second-year pro missed last week's game because of a hip injury.
Dobbs is switching places with rookie Jaren Hall, who will be the backup QB behind Nick Mullens.
Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell spoke with media members Thursday and was asked about the decision to have Hall be the backup as Mullens makes his first start with Minnesota.
"Jaren's fully healthy now and has really gotten back on the grass and … wanted him to kind of go about the week … kind of simulating as if he was going to potentially, as if he was playing, just using it as a real tool for his development and growth, and he's done a nice job, and just kind of want to go about it that way," O'Connell said.
"Josh Dobbs will be ready to play like he has to help us go 3-2 over the last five," he added. "I mean he came into the game with way less work than he had this week against Atlanta and led us to a victory, so tons of confidence in all three guys. I know our entire offensive group feels that way, and we feel fortunate, having lost Kirk [Cousins], to have that kind of depth that we do in that room."
