Biography

Jonathan Allen spent the first eight seasons of his NFL career with the Washington Commanders (2017-24) after being selected by the team in the first round (17th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Alabama. A two-time Pro Bowler (2021 and 2022), Allen recorded 401 total tackles, including 60 for loss, 42 sacks, 118 quarterback hits, one interception, five passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 109 career games (108 starts) with Washington. He was also named the team's Walter Payton Man of the Year Nominee in both 2020 and 2021. This past season, Allen notched 19 total tackles, including three for loss, 3.0 sacks and seven quarterback hits in eight games (seven starts), missing time due to an injury. He returned for the team's postseason run, starting each of Washington's three playoff contests. Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell (2017-19), Offensive Coordinator Wes Phillips (2017-18) and Passing Game Coordinator/TEs Coach Brian Angelichio (2019) were part of Washington's offensive coaching staff during Allen's tenure with the organization.
