Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer
It'll be good to get back to U.S. Bank Stadium and get in front of our home crowd. They do a lot of checking at the line of scrimmage, so we'll need them to be loud and boisterous. Got the alumni coming tomorrow, about 120 alumni coming to practice and then to the game on Sunday, so that'll be good to see those guys out here. Had a good week of practice and are ready to roll.
Q: How has Mike Hughes looked to you after a full week of practice?
A: Good. He's practiced pretty much full the last couple of weeks.
Q: Did you hear anything from the doctors yet or are you still waiting on that?
A: Still waiting.
Q: Are you looking to use Hughes as a returner when he comes back? Is that an option?
A: I don't know, let's get him back first and then we'll worry about it.
Q: How reassuring is it to know that with Ben Gedeon questionable and Mackensie Alexander out, you got a guy in Eric Wilson who can not only be that base guy, but also do some things in coverage in the slot and out of the box.
A: Yeah, he's a real versatile guy. He can play in the sub groups, he can play in the base groups. He's had quite a bit of playing time over the last couple of years, and if he does have to play we'll expect him to go in there and play well.
Q: How do you feel the rotation at the three-technique has gone through the first two games?
A: It's going well. I think just being able to rotate those guys helps. There's certain times we want Shamar (Stephen) in the game, and there's other times we need to get Hercules (Mata'afa) and Jalyn (Holmes) in there.
Q: What kind of a premium are you putting on getting off to a good start this week? Last year at this time you had a string of games with slow starts.
A: We do every week. We talk about starting fast every week. We're not going to talk about last year, it's a new team, new season, so let's go out and play. Play like we can play, play fast, play hard, play with great heart, play with great effort, good technique.
