EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings returned to familiar confines and with a couple of fresh faces on Monday.
Minnesota resumed training camp at Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center for the first time in a week after holding a pair of joint practices with the Browns at Cleveland last Wednesday and Thursday.
Joining the Vikings for the session was newly signed cornerback Stephon Gilmore and receiver Justin Hall.
Gilmore cycled in for a few reps on defense for a group that also welcomed the return of Shaq Griffin for some reps.
It was the first on-field action for Griffin since he suffered a leg injury while returning an interception on July 25.
"First play, I get a dig by Jettas (Justin Jefferson), and they was telling me, 'Slow down, slow down, slow down! Take your time,' so they know I'm overly excited," Griffin said after practice. "I think it feels good to be back with the guys and moving around, training with those guys and getting better."
Griffin did some running last week in Cleveland and is being ramped up, allowing him the opportunity "to get my wind back, get my legs under control."
Asked if he was at 100 percent, Griffin said, "If you ask me, I'm going to say that, but for the guys in the training room, they're doing a good job of making sure I'm patient and take my time with everything, not just throwing me in, doing every single play, but putting me at a pace I need to go at, so by next week, I'm a full go."
The Vikings remain in training camp mode, even though practices are now closed to the public.
Here are three observations presented by Minnesota Eye Consultants, the Proud LASIK Partner of the Minnesota Vikings:
1. Murphy finishes day with a pick
Speaking of cornerbacks, Byron Murphy, Jr., made an impressive leaping interception on the final snap of practice.
The 26-year-old showed his savvy by timing a pass that Sam Darnold tried to thread for a short gain.

Heading into his sixth season, Murphy has gone from being the Vikings most experienced cornerback a year ago to one of five corners with at least five prior NFL seasons.
He's also shown versatility with being able to play on the outside and on the inside.
2. Darnold hits deep passes
Monday's session was a bit shorter than most camp practices have been, but Darnold was able to connect on multiple deep passes, including shot plays to Jalen Nailor and Brandon Powell during a team period.
Nailor and Powell have continued strong camps, adding support while Jordan Addison recovers from an ankle injury suffered last week in Cleveland.
3. O-line combo check-in
The Vikings maintained their first grouping of LT Christian Darrisaw, LG Blake Brandel, C Garrett Bradbury, RG Ed Ingram and RT Brian O'Neill.
When the second group was in, Minnesota opted for David Quessenberry at left tackle, Tyrese Robinson at left guard, Michael Jurgens at center, Henry Byrd at right guard and Walter Rouse at right tackle.
That alignment flipped what the Vikings had done in opening Saturday's game against the Browns. That day, it was Rouse at left tackle and Quessenberry at right. Robinson started at left guard, and Ingram opened at right guard. Robinson moved to right guard when Byrd entered the game at left guard.
Veteran interior linemen Dalton Risner and Dan Feeney remain sidelined.
