Karin Nelsen is in her ninth season with the Vikings in 2024. As executive vice president & chief legal officer, she is responsible for managing the legal affairs of the organization and the legal department. In her role, Nelsen also plays a leadership role in the Vikings social impact work, which includes community relations, youth football, Vikings Legends and the Minnesota Vikings Foundation.

Nelsen served as a member of the Vikings COVID-19 Committee throughout the pandemic, providing leadership on the development and implementation of the team's COVID protocols and incident response plans. She played a key role in the club's planning to welcome fans back to U.S. Bank Stadium in 2021.

Nelsen joined the Vikings after 18 years with Cargill, Incorporated. During her tenure at Cargill, she served in roles including North America General Counsel, Asia Pacific General Counsel and European Deputy General Counsel. Nelsen spent six years working abroad with assignments in Moscow, Geneva and Singapore. Prior to joining Cargill, she was a litigator in Seattle and Minneapolis law firms and was also a CPA at Touche Ross before beginning law school.

Nelsen earned her law degree at Iowa Law School and her bachelor's degree in accounting from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Iowa Law School Foundation, the Minnesota Vikings Foundation, the Greater Twin Cities United Way as well as the advisory board of the Page Education Foundation. Karin and her husband, Mark, reside in Minneapolis.
