Bryant joined Minnesota as a seventh-round pick out of South Carolina in 1967 and excelled at making game-changing plays on top of his constant reliability. Bryant totaled a franchise-best 57 interceptions (including regular-season and playoff games). Over the course of 14 seasons, Bryant appeared in 174 games including 14 playoff contests. He recorded two interceptions and a touchdown in the 1973 and 1976 NFC Championship Games, helping send the Vikings to Super Bowls VIII and XI.
