Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer
We are looking for the opportunity this week to get back home. Hopefully, our fans will be nice and loud for this no-huddle offense that Atlanta runs. We expect to perform well.
Q: Any definitive word on Chad Greenway?
A: He probably will be out, unless we have a miraculous recovery.
Q: What problems do Matt Ryan with Julio Jones on the outside present?
A: Julio is playing great. Obviously, Ryan, he can move, get out of the pocket. He's got a great arm. He throws the ball down the field very well. And then they have got Roddy White, (Devin) Hester is playing great. They've got a lot of weapons. Steven Jackson in the backfield, they've got a lot of weapons. We're going to have to do a great job of being in the right place. We've got to stop the run better than what we did last week. We've got to make sure that we are in the right position in coverage all day.
Q: Do you go to Gerald Hodges if Chad Greenway is out and what do you expect from him?
A: We've got a combination of guys in there but I expect those guys to come in and play well. That's what we do, next guy up and let's go.
Q: Do you need two guys to do what Chad Greenway did, playing in so many different packages?
A: We've got some different packages that we will use, yeah.
Q: Where was Chad Greenway affected most in last weekend's game by his injuries?
A: He just had a hard time taking people (blockers) on.
Q: With Greenway out, can you still move Anthony Barr around and put him on the defensive line as well?
A: Yeah, we can.
Q: Who else would fill in at the linebacker position?
A: We've got (Michael) Mauti, he's been playing some in there. We might use some dime people.
Q: With a short week next week are there any concerns this could limit him next week?
A: I don't know. We'll worry about next week after this week. He's doing good.
*Q: Do you think it's tough on a player to see a consecutive-game streak end like that? *
A: Just found out about the streak last week, but yeah. That position, you've got to be a tough guy and take care of your body and do those things. If it ends, then it ends but we're going to do what's best for the team.
*Q: Have you gotten more clarity on Kyle Rudolph's return since the surgery? *
A: No, I think he gets back today from where he was. I don't know yet.
Q: Rudolph is coming back to the facility?
A: Yeah.
*Q: Does Linval Joseph look like he'll be good to go? *
A: He's good to go.
Q: Is there any hesitation for the rookie Anthony Barr now wearing the communication headset?
A: It's pretty simple. I tell him what to say and he says it. I tell him to look for this or look for that and he does it. I know everybody makes a big deal out of it, but it's not that difficult. It's just unusual to have someone talking in your ear during a no-huddle offense or something like that. It's not a big deal. He's been practicing it for a while.
*Q: How has Josh Robinson looked the past couple of days? *
A: Good.
Q: Where do you think he's made the most progress?
A: Technique, I think. I don't know about last season but I think he's doing better with his technique. He's got good athleticism. We look for corners to get in and out of breaks and cover people. He has those traits.
*Q: Is he especially valuable against a deep receiving corps? *
A: Corners are valuable every week. I can't think of very many games where there's not a good receiver that we have to go up against.
*Q: Will Chad Greenway be listed as doubtful? *
A: I don't know, we haven't listed him yet.
Q: Has Matt Cassel had surgery?
A: Today is Friday, yeah, I believe so.
Q: Do you have an idea of when he'll be able to get back to doing things?
A: I haven't heard the results of the surgery yet.
Q: Have you kept in contact with Adrian Peterson?
A: Not really, no.
