Draft experts have been praising the depth and overall talent of this year's tight ends.
Members of the position group who were invited to Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine enhanced their résumés on Saturday during on-field workouts.
Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph, who was recovering from a hamstring injury and didn't participate in events at the 2011 combine, took notice of how fast players ran the 40-yard dash:
Rudolph wasn't the only one who noticed the speed. ESPN's Todd McShay noted that 11 of the 14 tight ends who ran Saturday had times of 4.70 or quicker, which is considerably below the five-year average:
Alabama's O.J. Howard dazzled by multiple accounts at the Reese's Senior Bowl in January and followed by running the 40 in 4.51 seconds, a mark that was only beaten by the 4.42 clocked by Mississippi's Evan Engram.
Iowa's George Kittle was just after Howard with a time of 4.52.
