The Wobcast returned this week with a jam-packed show after the Vikings mini-bye that followed their Thanksgiving win in Detroit.
Vikings fans had a chance to kick back and watch some other teams battle it out on Sunday after a 30-23 victory against the Lions on Thanksgiving Day at Ford Field. Minnesota has won seven straight games and looks to keep the streak going this week against the defending NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons.
On this edition of the Wobcast, vikings.com's Mike Wobschall and I discuss the NFC Playoff picture with five games to go in the season.
Vikings rookie center Pat Elflein joins the show to discuss his first 11 games and the team's success so far. Barstool's Big Cat also catches up with Wobby and calls Mike Zimmer "The Ultimate Football Guy."
Below are some of the best highlights from Week 13's show:
03:59: News and Notes (Keenum Offensive Player of the Month)
Wobby and I identify some notable stats as the Vikings head into the last five games of the season. The Vikings have one of the NFC's leading pass rushers, and the best third-down defense in the NFL.
Quarterback Case Keenum earned NFC Offensive Player of the Month for November, and wide receiver Adam Thielen is near the top of the NFL in some crucial categories.
07:22: Elflein Interview
Elflein has had a stellar start to his career with the Vikings.
The Vikings rookie picks his favorite thing about being a member of the organization and makes a bid for his Ohio State Buckeyes to be in the College Football Playoffs. The Buckeyes are in the Big Ten Championship on Saturday against undefeated Wisconsin.
Vikings quarterback Case Keenum gave kudos to Elflein is his press conference this week, and Elflein discusses the process of making adjustments and calls at the line of scrimmage.
12:21: NFC Playoff Picture
Cynthia Freland of NFL Network has released playoff probabilities for the top playoff teams in the NFL based on their remaining schedule.
Wobby and I discuss the chances for the top eight teams in the NFC at the moment and what the Vikings have to do to separate from the pack.
Both of us select one team we would love to face in the playoffs out of the top eight teams and one team that we would not want to face.
19:49: Know Your Enemy: Atlanta Falcons
We take a look at the defending NFC Champions. The Falcons have an impressive two-headed rushing attack of Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman who have combined for 10 touchdowns this season.
The league's reigning Most Valuable Player Matt Ryan has not had the same season as last year so far, but he and wide receiver Julio Jones put together a historical performance last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Wobby takes a look at the Falcons defense that is currently 11th in points allowed per game (24.1).
25:49: Big Cat Interview
Wobby FaceTimes with Barstool Sports' Big Cat, who is a fan of the Chicago Bears. Big Cat touches on the NFC North, the cold winters in Minnesota and of course the fact that he thinks Mike Zimmer is "The Ultimate Football Guy"
31:16: Wobby's Fan Mail
Wobby takes four questions from the fans including the chances that Elflein could win Rookie of the Year, the credit that Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman deserves for the depth of the 2017 roster and what Vikings running back Latavius Murray's touchdown dance means.
Larry Lujan, a favorite fan of Wobby's, asks a question you won't want to miss.
