5 Things to Know About New Vikings Guard Tyler Catalina

EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings added to their offensive line Thursday afternoon by **signing guard Tyler Catalina**.

Minnesota also released guard Tiano Pupungatoa, keeping the roster at 90 players.

Catalina is listed at 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds.

Here are five things to know about the newest Minnesota Viking:

1. Career stats

Catalina played in seven games with two starts with Washington in the 2017 season. He joined the team as an undrafted free agent in the spring of 2017.

Catalina missed the entire 2018 season with a shoulder injury.

2. Hi, Kirk

Catalina was teammates with Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins during the 2017 season. In the two games that Catalina started at left guard in front of Cousins, the quarterback threw for 529 yards with four touchdowns in a pair of losses.

4. He's a Bulldog, and a Ram

The guard played one season at Georgia as a graduate transfer after playing three seasons at the University of Rhode Island. Catalina played in 33 career games for the Rams. He was a team captain and a Second-Team All-Conference selection in the Colonial Athletic Association.

5. 2-time state champ

Catalina was a two-time state champion on the gridiron at Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, Massachusetts. The Mountaineers won titles in 2013 and 2011 when they went a combined 24-2.
