The Vikings recognized the 2017 winners of the Minnesota Football Honors on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
2017 winning program to be announced during Vikings-Bengals game on December 17
Eden Prairie, MN (September 14, 2017) – For the third consecutive year, the Minnesota Vikings are partnering with Innovative Office Solutions, the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Vikings flagship radio station KFAN 100.3 to honor one Minnesota school community as the "Minnesota Football Program of the Year" with the "In the Game" Award. The winning football community will be announced during the Vikings home game against the Cincinnati Bengals on December 17, 2017, and will receive a $10,000 check as part of a "town takeover" in 2018.
To nominate a football program, communities can visit www.vikings.com/inthegame. All community entrants must fill out a nomination form, which will be accepted until October 9, 2017.
After a school has been officially nominated, fans are encouraged to promote their school's nomination via social media using the hashtag #IntheGame along with their school name (e.g. #Caledonia). Fans can help their respective school earn votes by sharing photos of special moments from the school, team, and city, as well as the family and fans that make their community and school the "Minnesota Football Program of the Year."
The winning football program will be recognized at Minnesota Football Honors next April. In addition, the Vikings, Innovative Office Solutions and KFAN will "take over" the community by bringing several Vikings players, cheerleaders and Viktor to the winning school to present the $10,000 check. A portion of the money will be donated to specific programs in the winning community to encourage all kids to engage in their community despite any financial setbacks.
"Along with our InSports Foundation, Innovative Office Solutions believes that sports are a great way for kids to learn important life skills," said Jennifer Smith, CEO of Innovative Office Solutions. "We are thrilled to continue our partnership for this program for the third consecutive year, and we are excited to give schools throughout Minnesota an opportunity to highlight how their football programs get kids and their communities 'in the game.'"
