EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings made multiple roster moves on Monday by adding offensive lineman Tiano Pupungatoa and announcing the release of running back Roc Thomas.
The moves keep the Vikings roster at the offseason limit of 90 total players.
Pupungatoa, who was with the Vikings during rookie minicamp on a tryout basis in May, primarily played guard at South Dakota State.
He began his college career as a defensive lineman in 2015, but switched to the offensive side of the ball for his final three collegiate seasons.
Pupungatoa started at left guard beginning in 2016, and started 38 of 39 games over the duration of his college career.
The Wisconsin native was a Third-Team All-America selection by the Associated Press as a senior in 2018.
He helped the Jackrabbits go 10-3 and make it to the semifinals of the FCS playoffs. South Dakota State averaged 42.5 points and 480.5 yards of total offense per game in 2018.
Thomas joined the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in the spring of 2018. He appeared in five games this past season, rushing for 30 yards on eight carries while adding two catches for 21 yards.
