EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Wednesday announced they have signed defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga to their 53-man roster.

Minnesota also announced it has signed safety Mike Brown to its practice squad.

The Vikings waived linebacker Ryan Connelly and announced receiver Blake Proehl has returned to practice.

Tonga joins Minnesota after spending recent time on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad. A native of West Valley, Utah, Tonga initially entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick (250th overall) by the Chicago Bears in 2021.

Last season, Tonga appeared in 15 games and made two starts. He tallied 24 tackles (10 solo), a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery. Tonga played college football at BYU.

Brown is rejoining the Vikings having spent the offseason program with the team after initially joining Minnesota as a 2022 undrafted free agent. After being waived by Minnesota during roster reductions, Brown spent a brief period with the Packers practice squad. He played college football at Miami (Ohio).

Connelly had been activated Tuesday from the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.

Proehl, who suffered a torn ACL during training camp in 2021, has a practice window during which the Vikings can evaluate him.
