EAGAN, Minn. – The Vikings on Saturday announced the signing of rookie linebacker Cameron Smith from their practice squad to their 53-man roster.
Minnesota also waived receiver Davion Davis, an undrafted rookie out of Sam Houston State.
Smith (6-foot-2, 235 pounds) was selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft with the 162nd overall pick.
He spent training camp and the preseason with the club but was waived during final roster reductions and signed to the practice squad.

The native of Granite Bay, California, was named USC's team MVP following his senior season in 2018. Smith led the Trojans in tackles as a sophomore, junior and senior, becoming the first USC player to do so in three consecutive seasons since Dennis Johnson did so from 1977-1979.
Linebacker Ben Gedeon (concussion) was ruled out for Sunday's game against Philadelphia, and linebacker Kentrell Brothers (hamstring/wrist) is listed as questionable.
