EAGAN, Minn. — A pair of rookies in town on a tryout basis impressed the Vikings enough to warrant roster spots.
Minnesota announced Monday that the team has added cornerback Terrance Alexander and safety Isaiah Wharton to the roster.
Additionally, the Vikings released safety Jordan Martin, bringing Minnesota's roster to the preseason maximum of 90 players.
Alexander spent his senior season at LSU after playing for Stanford for three seasons prior. He played in 13 games with five starts in 2018, recording 23 tackles with three pass breakups.
He played in 41 total games with Stanford, making three starts with 57 tackles and one interception. He has a degree in symbolic studies from Stanford. The school **described the program as one** that "focuses on computers and minds: artificial and natural systems that use symbols to communicate, and to represent information."
A New Orleans native, Alexander won three state titles in his final three seasons at John Curtis High School.
Wharton played four seasons at Rutgers, starting each of his 48 career games at cornerback.
A team captain in 2018, Wharton tallied 205 total tackles (134 solo) with 14.5 tackles for loss and four interceptions in his college career.
Wharton played prep football at Gateway High School in Kissimmee, Florida. He was a Second-Team All-State selection in 2013 as a senior.
Current Vikings who originally made the team after being invited to rookie tryouts include All-Pro wide receiver Adam Thielen, fullback C.J. Ham, wide receiver Chad Beebe and cornerback Craig James.
