Eden Prairie, MN (September 16, 2016) – The Minnesota Vikings and the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center (JWRC) are launching a text-to-give campaign to raise money for the JWRC, which was founded 27 years ago to educate and assist families and communities to address and prevent the exploitation of children.
Beginning today, fans can text the word "JACOB" to 91999 to make a one-time $11 donation to the JWRC. The Vikings will cover the costs of the campaign and kick things off with an $11,000 contribution. The team will also include a video and on-field recognition of the campaign and the JWRC during Sunday night's Vikings-Packers game. The Wetterling family will watch the game as guests of the Vikings from a private location at U.S. Bank Stadium. Media are asked to honor their request for privacy as they remember Jacob.
Jacob, who loved sports and wanted to be a football player, believed in a fair and just world where all children know they are special and deserve to be safe. To remember and honor Jacob's hope for the world, the JWRC is asking fans to be a part of #11forJacob, a movement that centers around 11 simple traits:
1. Be fair
2. Be kind
3. Be understanding
4. Be honest
5. Be thankful
6. Be a good sport
7. Be a good friend
8. Be joyful
9. Be generous
10. Be gentle with others
11. Be positive
