Eden Prairie, MN(January 7, 2016)** – Due to the cold temperatures expected this weekend, the Minnesota Vikings are asking fans to plan accordingly and be extra cautious during Sunday's Wild Card Game against the Seahawks. In an effort to assist with keeping fans safe, the team will implement the following:
• Free hand warmers will be distributed in the Fan Zone and at entry gates for those who need them while supplies last (team is encouraging all fans to also bring their own).
• Caribou Coffee will provide free coffee in the Fan Zone located on Oak Street outside TCF Bank Stadium.
• Beginning at 9:00 a.m., Mariucci Arena will be open and available as a pregame warming house for fans.
Additionally, blankets (non-battery operated) will continue to be allowed and are encouraged inside the stadium. The Vikings are also encouraging fans to bring Styrofoam, cardboard or newspapers to place under their feet within the stadium, a popular and effective tactic that has worked in other outdoor markets. Fans should leave their seats and enter the concourses when they want a break from the elements.
"We know Minnesotans are resilient when it comes to cold weather and unified when it comes to the Vikings, so we view this Sunday's game as a rallying moment," said Vikings Owner/President Mark Wilf. "At the same time, we want our fans to be smart and safe when they are supporting the team, and we are taking a few extra steps to assist in that effort this Sunday."
