EAGAN, Minn. — Nick Vigil is heading back to Minnesota.
The linebacker who started 12 of 16 games played for the Vikings in 2021 is one of four players who signed to Minnesota's practice squad Thursday.
He joins offensive linemen Hakeem Adeniji, Henry Byrd and Tyrese Robinson in joining a group of 12 practice squad players the Vikings announced Wednesday.
Vigil recorded 85 tackles, four tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, a sack, and an interception that he returned 38 yards for a touchdown. He played 719 defensive snaps and 198 special teams snaps in his lone season with Minnesota.
After appearing in four games with the Cardinals in 2022, Vigil spent this offseason with the New York Jets but was released this week.
The Utah native who played college football at Utah State began his NFL career as a third-round pick by the Bengals in 2016. He started 37 of 54 games played for the Bengals, totaling 295 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, two interceptions, 14 passes defensed, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.
Vigil then started two of 15 games played for the Chargers in 2020 before joining the Vikings.
Adeniji joined the NFL as a sixth-round pick out of Kansas by Cincinnati in 2020. He started 15 of 39 regular-season games played for the Bengals, logging experience at guard and tackle. Adeniji also started all seven playoff games played by Cincinnati in the past two seasons. He started four postseason games at right guard (including Super Bowl LVI) and three at right tackle.
Adeniji is from Texas and started 48 games for the Jayhawks, garnering a First-Team All-Big 12 selection as a senior in 2019.
Byrd was signed by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent after the 2023 NFL Draft. He played college football at Princeton from 2018-22 and garnered First-Team All-Ivy honors in his final two seasons. The Tennessee native won a team award as the top offensive freshman in his first season with the Tigers.
Robinson most recently was with the Eagles but was waived earlier this week during roster reductions. He first joined Philadelphia as a member of its practice squad in October 2022. He first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Washington in May 2022 but was waived that August.
A Texas native, Robinson played college football at Oklahoma, where he started 38 of 43 games from 2019-21. As a redshirt senior, he started all 13 games at right tackle and garnered a Second-Team All-Big 12 selection from The Associated Press and an Honorable Mention from the conference's coaches.
The standard maximum for NFL teams' practice squads is 16 players.
