EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Vikings on Tuesday announced they have moved quarterback Taylor Heinicke off the non-football injury list to the active roster.
Minnesota also announced that tight end MyCole Pruitt has been waived.
Heinicke joined the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He spent all of last season on the active roster but did not play in a regular-season game. Heinicke suffered a freak off-the-field injury in the time between the Vikings mandatory minicamp and training camp, arriving at Mankato in a walking boot.
The former Old Dominion standout had a 21-day window to practice and be evaluated by the Vikings. The team had to decide on his status by Nov. 9.
Pruitt was selected in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Southern Illinois. He had 10 catches for 89 yards as a rookie, including a long of 32. This season, however, Pruitt has battled injuries. He caught one pass for seven yards in Week 4 but suffered a knee injury against Houston.
