U.S. Bank Stadium Construction 80% Finished; ETFE Roof Completion Moves Work Inside

At this morning's MSFA board meeting, Mortenson Construction announced that the progress at U.S. Bank Stadium is now 80% complete with $700 million worth of work to be completed by the end of this month. All transparent ETFE roof panels on the stadium’s south side have been installed with finishing touches now wrapping up. In the near future, installation of glass on the world's five largest pivoting doors located on the facility's west side will commence.

Interior progress continues as the stadium has reached its full enclosure point ahead of this year's winter. The Vikings Club is nearing completion while work on concessions and restrooms throughout the stadium wraps up. Seats continue to be installed on the stadium's north side with the telescopic seats going in soon.

Vikings, MSFA Announce Legacy Ship Outside of U.S. Bank Stadium

The Minnesota Vikings and MSFA announced yesterday that the Legacy Ship, a structural landmark, will take the place of a typical stadium marquee located on the southwest corner of Medtronic Plaza. The ship – made of contemporary metals, stone, concrete and wood – will feature a 2,000 square-foot curved LED board as the sail. The interior of the ship will feature seating, as well as 150 linear feet of displays, including a timeline highlighting historical Minnesota moments. Approximately 3,500 square feet of the ship's deck will feature thousands of fans’ customized Legacy Bricks. Launched earlier this year, the Legacy Brick program offers fans an opportunity to etch their message into Vikings history.

U.S. Bank Stadium's Economic Impact Reaches $1 Billion

With the announcement earlier this week that more apartments and another hotel will be developed near U.S. Bank Stadium, the new stadium's impact in the Downtown East area has topped $1 billion. Graves Hospitality and Basant Kharbanda will partner to develop 150 apartments and a 150-bedroom hotel located at the corner of Chicago Avenue South and South Washington Avenue less than two blocks from where the state-of-the-art stadium is located.

Vikings Contribute Nearly $1.5 Million for Additional Stadium Costs

This morning the MSFA approved an additional $1.45 million investment by the Minnesota Vikings to enhance additional features of U.S. Bank Stadium. A large majority of these additional funds will go towards enhancing the external video board on the stadium's west prow. Today's approval brings the total team contribution of the project to $578 million, or $101 million more than originally planned, with the public contribution remaining capped at $498 million.

Heading to Sunday's Game? Team Issues Two Reminders

Due to the heightened nature of Sunday's game against the Packers, the Vikings would like to remind fans to be cautious of counterfeit tickets and to take advantage of additional entrance points into the stadium.

Counterfeit tickets typically sold over the Internet and by ticket sellers near stadiums on game day. Fans should only purchase tickets from authorized ticket outlets – the Vikings Ticket Office, Ticketmaster and the NFL TicketExchange. Because of the Vikings ticket-scanning process, if a fan purchases a counterfeit ticket, he/she may not be able to access the stadium and could be subject to an investigation.

In terms of stadium ingress, for the second consecutive home game, an additional 33 lanes will be open for fans to enter. Fans entering on the stadium's north side can now opt to enter through the Mercer and Steele County gates. For fans that are not bringing bags to the stadium, express lanes have been created to allow fans to enter the stadium more rapidly. Fans are asked to not bring a bag of any kind unless absolutely necessary to speed up the entry process.
