Transcript: Zimmer Addresses the Media on Friday

*Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer    *

We finished up practices, got a walk-thru tomorrow and get ready to go to Chicago. I think our guys are excited about playing. We need to play good to win. Questions?

Q: With a new offensive coordinator in place, what have you seen differently with their offense this year?

A: I don't know about differently, but what they're doing is – obviously [Matt] Forte is a big factor, [Alshon] Jeffery is big in there and so is [Martellus] Bennett. I think they're doing a good job with the running game, sticking with it. [Jay] Cutler is making plays by buying time with his feet and then making plays down the field. They've been doing a good job not turning the ball over.

Q: What are some of the challenges Alshon Jeffery presents especially now that he is fully healthy?

A: He's another very, very good receiver that we have to play. He's got great size, excellent hands and he'll body up and [Jay] Cutler has a lot of confidence in him throwing the football to him. We'll have to be on our Ps and Qs to handle it.

Q: How is Xavier Rhodes progressing?

A: Well, we're always trying to work on that, but Xavier [Rhodes] is going to be a big, physical corner and I'm not going to change the way he plays. I keep telling him every day, "If you're a power forward, you've got to be a power forward; you don't want to be a point guard." We'll keep working on trying to get him more technically sound, but we're not going to back off from being aggressive and physical.

Q: Is there a little different challenge to prepare for a guy like Jay Cutler who can freelance a bit and take some chances?

A: Yeah, he really is doing a great job of seeing pressure, avoiding it, biding some time and throwing the ball vertically down the field. He's got a cannon for an arm and he can be very, very accurate, especially when he is throwing a deep ball. It is a challenge. We're going to have to make sure that we're doing a good job the way we rush, the way we pressure and in our zones as well.

Q: Is Jay Cutler a big part of them giving up fewer sacks than in the past or are they just protecting him better?

A: A little of both. Cutler is doing a nice job of moving in the pocket. I think they're doing a good job with their protections as well.

Q: How has Mike Wallace been handling things this year?

A: He's been good. I talk to him every day about stuff and he's good. I think he's excited about the possibilities as we move forward. I think we'll continue to get better as the season goes on with all of it, so hopefully we'll keep going each week.

Q: Has he been a guy who has helped bring along the younger receivers or is it more difficult since it's his first year here?

A: No, he's been good with that. He's helped guys and he's not afraid to voice his opinion. He works very hard. I think he's been good.

Q: How much work did Adrian Peterson do today and do you expect he will be fully ready on Sunday?

A: He was full go and he'll be ready on Sunday.

Q: Any update on Sharrif Floyd?

A: No injury talk.
