Thielen Foundation is helping Brooklyn Center High School re-light its stadium for evening games.
The school's stadium lights went out during a 2018 football game; since then, all events previously held under the lights – including football, lacrosse, soccer and track and field – have been forced to be hosted during daytime hours.
Vikings receiver Adam Thielen and his wife Caitlin, through Thielen Foundation, are continuing a two-plus year relationship with Brooklyn Center High School by launching a fundraiser campaign. The Foundation's goal of raising $250,000 will enable the return of Friday football games (and other sporting events) under the lights at Brooklyn Center High School. The campaign is kicking off at $75,000.
The fundraiser will go through the end of June, and various initiatives will take place throughout the month:
Virtual Silent Auction Kick-Off: June 2-11 (closes at noon CT); Autographed memorabilia will be available for bidding.
Cameo Campaign: June 12-20; Adam will take a limited number of requests for personalized videos.
Limited-edition T-shirt: June 20-30; Thielen Foundation will feature a pre-determined number of limited-edition T-shirt designs through its website.
Keep an eye on Thielen Foundation's Facebook and Instagram pages for more information on the above specific events.
On Wednesday, June 16, the Thielens, Thielen Foundation members, sponsors, and BCHS staff members and student-athletes will break ground while also participating in safely taking down and hauling away the old lighting system and unpacking the new lights.
Dating back to 2019, Thielen Foundation entered an exclusive partnership with Brooklyn Center High School by introducing their ChangeThruSport program, which aims to close the achievement gap for young men and women student-athletes in the district. Some of the program's highlights have included renovating the school's weight room, providing each student-athlete with $75 gift cards to SCHEELS, providing $50,000 in sports equipment, covering athletic fees throughout the year, and offering nutritious snacks to the young athletes.
Thielen Foundation was founded in 2018 and aims to create programs that will equip and empower young people to reach their full potential in life.
