The Vikings Instragram Group is back on the road.
For every game on the road during the 2016 regular season The Vikings Instagram Group has showcased the Vikings helmet around the upcoming opponent's city prior to the game.
This week the V.I.G. is in the Sunshine State showcasing the horned helmet in Jacksonville Florida.
The Vikings Instagram Group worked with local photographer Carlos Sanchez prior to the Vikings Sunday matchup with the Jaguars.
Follow him on Instagram to view some of his past work.
Enjoy this Q&A with Sanchez and view his work in our V.I.G. gallery.
How did you initially get into photography?
I started off by taking photos with my iPhone. My fiancé noticed my shots and said I should do it more often. I shot for about a year with just my phone. Then about a month or two ago, a friend handed me a Nikon DSLR camera and said have fun. So here I am.
Tell us about your current photography business and what do you enjoy shooting?
Currently I am working with a few clothing brands from Instagram and some local businesses here in town. I am working on my portfolio and hoping I can get a job traveling and doing photography.
You're also a Vikings fan. How did you begin rooting for the Vikings?
It started as a kid. I loved the Vikings mascot. I followed them since John Randall played, then of course the man, Randy Moss. So this is a dream come true.
Is it difficult to be a Vikings fan in Jacksonville?
Well I don't know. There is not a huge following here, but I don't care.
What was your reaction when the team gave you a call to be involved with the Vikings Instagram Group?
Honestly I'm still in shock. Even though the helmet is still here with me I can't believe it. There are so many amazing photographers in the area and I don't even compare to their skills. I'm still in shock.
You frequently showcase your work on Instagram, what do you enjoy most about the platform?
I enjoy Instagram thoroughly. I like that you get to network and meet people from all over the world. You get to see things and talk to people you'd never imagine as a kid. I've met some amazing people on there.
Is it nice to know you're the first outside contributor to the V.I.G. who is also a Vikings fan?
Really?! Hell yes it's nice to know. Let's get Vikings!!
What was the most difficult part of shooting this week for the Vikings Instagram Group?
I felt a lot of pressure. I kept thinking I hope I can represent our city correctly. But with my twist and views on it I don't like to do things like others do.
Do you have a favorite photo?
The one with the Hart Bridge in the background. One of the bridges that gets you into downtown Jacksonville.
What do you think of the V.I.G. concept, and will you be following to see what future photographers do?
I think it's an amazing concept. People get to see the different aspects and ideas of artists this way and not just one style from one artist. Art is ever-changing and it should be showcased in that fashion.
