Eden Prairie, MN (October 23, 2015) – Minnesota Vikings WR Stefon Diggs has been named the Pepsi Rookie of the Week after his performance in the Vikings 16-10 victory last Sunday over the Kansas City Chiefs.
In only his second NFL game and first start, Diggs caught seven passes for 129 yards, including three receptions of 20 yards in the win. Diggs' biggest reception came on a 3rd and 15 strike over the middle from QB Teddy Bridgewater in the 4th quarter to pick up 30 yards and help seal the victory. His 6 catches this season of 20 yards is tied for the second highest total in the NFL since Week 4. Diggs' 129 yards receiving was also the second most by a rookie in a game this year (A. Cooper at Cleveland, 134 yards).
The Gaithersburg, Md., native becomes the most recent Vikings rookie to win the award since Teddy Bridgewater last season (Week 13 vs. Carolina) and first Vikings wide receiver to win it since Percy Harvin in 2009 (Week 8 at Green Bay).
Diggs, a 5th round draft choice (146th overall) by the Vikings in the 2015 NFL Draft, currently ranks third among all rookie wide receivers with 216 receiving yards (A. Cooper 386 yards, J. Crowder 244 yards).
