This August, Vikings fans will begin their two-year stint of attending home games at TCF Bank Stadium while they await the building of a brand-new home where the Metrodome once stood. But this weekend, Vikings fans can get a sneak peek at their new temporary home while also taking an opportunity to check out the Golden Gophers annual Spring Game.
The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers will hold their annual Spring Game at TCF Bank Stadium this Saturday, April 12, with kickoff slated for 2:30 p.m. The game will complete a busy day of events that also includes Goldy's Run and an alumni football game featuring former Gophers and Vikings defensive back Tyrone Carter. Following the Spring Game, fans will have an opportunity to go on the field for a 30-minute autograph session with the student-athletes and coaches.
The Spring Game is a tradition held by many college football programs that allows the program's coaches and players to gauge their progress since the end of the previous season while also providing an opportunity for alumni and fans to gather in support of the school and to get a preview of next season's team.
The game is free and open to the public, providing fans with a chance to enjoy Gophers football while also gaining a feel for the Vikings home for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
