MINNEAPOLIS – The Vikings have placed reserve quarterback Sean Mannion and left tackle Rashod Hill on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Sunday.
The Mannion news came through about three hours before the noon kickoff of Minnesota's game against the Rams at U.S. Bank Stadium. Hill's placement on the list was announced just before 10 a.m.
Mannion has served as the backup quarterback to Kirk Cousins, who has started all 14 games for the Vikings so far this season. Mannion has been active for every game but hasn't seen any action.
Earlier this week during his session with Twin Cities media members, Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer was asked about the team's quarterback situation should someone test positive for the virus. Zimmer did disclose at that time that Mannion is fully vaccinated.
Mannion joins Vikings running back Dalvin Cook and cornerback Tye Smith on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Assistant Head Coach/Co-Defensive Coordinator Andre Patterson also will miss today's game against the Rams after testing positive for COVID-19 Thursday.
Next in line at quarterback for Minnesota will be rookie Kellen Mond. The former Texas A&M standout has yet to play in an NFL game.
Hill, who has been with the Vikings since 2016, began the season as the starter at left tackle. He started the first five games of the season there before Christian Darrisaw took over at that spot.
