Vikings Sign T Ricky Lee & RB Zavier Scott to Practice Squad

EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings shuffled two spots on their practice squad Thursday, roughly 24 hours after forming the initial group of 17 players.

Minnesota signed tackle Ricky Lee III and running back Zavier Scott and released running back DeWayne McBride and receiver Jeshaun Jones.

Lee first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Carolina in 2023. He appeared in six games on special teams for the Panthers as a rookie. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Lee played college football at North Carolina Central before transferring to North Carolina A&T for his final two seasons.

In 2022, Lee was named to the All-Big South Second Team in 2022 after helping the Aggies allow the fewest sacks in the league.

Lee spent this preseason with Carolina before he was waived Tuesday.

Scott first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Indianapolis in 2023 and spent last season on the practice squad.

He began his college career at Connecticut, where he totaled 33 receptions for 228 yards and a touchdown and 210 rushing yards on 34 carries in 14 games (2017-19). Scott transferred to Maine and played receiver and running back for the Black Bears from 2021-22.

In 2022, Scott led Maine with career highs of 42 receptions and 434 receiving yards. He added 371 rushing yards and four scores on 39 rushes.

McBride joined Minnesota as a seventh-round pick in 2023 and spent last season on the practice squad. Jones joined Minnesota in 2024 as an undrafted free agent out of Maryland.
