EAGAN, Minn. – The Vikings have placed linebacker Nick Vigil on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Thursday.
Vigil has played 15 games for Minnesota this season and made 11 starts. He's filled in for both Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks when injuries temporarily sidelined the starting linebackers. Vigil also is part of the lineup when the Vikings start in their base 4-3 defense.
Vigil has recorded 78 tackles (40 solo), a sack, four tackles for loss, an interception and a pass defensed. The 28-year-old scored a defensive touchdown against the Cardinals in Week 2.
The timing of Vigil's addition to the COVID-19 list means he'll miss the Vikings Sunday Night Football contest against the Packers this weekend.

He could return for Minnesota's regular-season finale against Chicago, however, depending on presence of symptoms.
Earlier last week, the NFL and NFL Player's Association agreed on modified protocols and shortened the standard isolation period after a positive test for asymptomatic individuals from 10 days to five days, regardless of vaccination status.
Vigil joins Vikings rookie defensive end Patrick Jones II on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Running back Dalvin Cook was activated from the list Wednesday after testing positive last week.
