The NFL announced the full order of selections for the 2016 NFL Draft on Friday after awarding 13 different teams a total of 33 compensatory selections.

The Vikings are currently scheduled to make eight selections, one in each of the first six rounds and two in the seventh round. The scheduled picks are: (Round 1: 23rd overall; Round 2: 54th overall; Round 3: 86th overall; Round 4: 121st overall; Round 5: 160th overall; Round 6: 198th overall; Round 7: 240th and 244th overall).

Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman tries to get to 10 choices each draft and successfully navigated trade waters last year to do so. If Spielman intends to get that many picks this season, he will do so without assistance of any compensatory selections.

Spielman, however, ought to be used to that by now. The Vikings last had compensatory picks in 2012 when they selected Rhett Ellison 128th overall and Greg Childs 134th overall.

Compensatory selections are a means to help teams that are determined to have lost more talent than they've gained in free agency. The compensatory picks are placed at the ends of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth rounds and cannot be traded this year. A rule change will allow trading of compensatory picks in 2017.

Based on free agents signed and lost in 2015, Dallas, New England and San Francisco were each awarded four compensatory selections. Baltimore, Cleveland, Denver and Seattle received three. Buffalo, Detroit and Green Bay were awarded two apiece, and Arizona, Pittsburgh and San Diego each received one.

The Vikings have been awarded 17 compensatory selections since 1994. Baltimore has received the most (47), followed by Dallas (37) and Green Bay (37).

Usually, there are 256 selections in the draft, but New England (first round), Kansas City (third round) and Atlanta (fifth round) had picks taken away by the league office.
