EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings (14-3) had their nine-game winning streak, which lasted for all of November and December, upended Sunday to start January and end the regular season.
Now the team will try to start a new streak with the stakes becoming win and advance or lose and abruptly go home.
The final game of the NFL's 2024 regular season secured the NFC North and No. 1 overall seed in the NFC Playoffs for Detroit (15-2) and relegated Minnesota to the No. 5 seed as the first 14-win team to ever be a Wild Card entrant.
The field is set, and the action will resume with six total NFL playoff games (three in the AFC and three in the NFC) from Saturday through Monday.
The top four seeds in the AFC and NFC went to division winners.
Since the NFL expanded the playoffs in 2020, No. 2 seeds now play on Wild Card Weekend.
Fourteen clubs remain, and 18 have shifted their focus toward the 2025 NFL Draft.

Division Champions
NFC NORTH
1. Detroit Lions (15-2)
Up Next
1/18/25 or 1/19/25: Will host highest remaining seed in Divisional Round
Status: Thanks to four touchdowns from Jahmyr Gibbs (three rushing and one receiving), the Lions locked up the top spot. Gibbs finished with 20 scrimmage touchdowns, a franchise record that made him the first Detroit player to lead the NFL in the category since Barry Sanders went back-to-back with 16 in 1990 and 17 in 1991.
NFC EAST
2. Philadelphia Eagles (14-3)
Up Next
3:30 p.m. (CT) on 1/12/25: Will host No. 7 Green Bay (11-6)
Watch: FOX (and FOX Deportes)
Status: The Eagles had already become the 20th consecutive installment of a different team winning the NFC East from the previous season (and were locked in at No. 2), so they were able to rest Saquon Barkley, who finished his first season in Philly with 2,005 rushing yards, which ranks 8th all-time.
NFC SOUTH
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-7)
Up Next
7 p.m. (CT) on 1/12/25: Will host No. 6 Commanders (12-5)
Watch: NBC (and on Peacock & Universo)
Status: The Bucs rallied from two 10-point deficits at home against the Saints and moved up to the No. 3 seed with their win and the loss by the Rams. Tampa Bay claimed its fourth consecutive NFC South title and became the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive division titles despite entering Week 13 below .500 in each season. No other franchise has had such a surge in consecutive seasons.
