Another day, another award for Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell.
The Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) on Thursday announced he has been voted by the organization's members as the 2024 NFL Coach of the Year.
O'Connell led Minnesota to a 14-3 season in 2024, becoming the first Vikings coach to win 13 or more games twice. He led an offense that featured a new starting QB (Sam Darnold) and RB (Aaron Jones, Sr.), helping both players record career highs.
Minnesota put together a nine-game winning streak from Week 9 through Week 17, tying for the third-longest streak in Vikings history.

The Vikings ranked sixth in passing yards per game (237.8), seventh in passing yards per play (7.38), ninth in points per game (25.4), first in interception rate (3.77 percent), second in rushing yards allowed per game (93.4) and fourth in rushing yards allowed per play (4.05). Wide receiver Justin Jefferson was selected to the PFWA’s All-NFL and All-NFC teams while outside linebackers Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel, along with cornerback Byron Murphy, Jr., were selected to the All-NFC team.
The recognition was announced the same day that O'Connell was listed as one of five finalists for The Associated Press' Coach of the Year. The winner of that award will be announced in New Orleans on Feb. 6.
It also continues a week that includes agreeing to a contract extension on Tuesday and being honored by the 101 Awards as NFC Coach of the Year.
Also on Thursday, the PFWA announced Detroit Executive Vice President and General Manager Brad Holmes as its 2024 NFL Executive of the Year and former Lions Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson, who was hired as head coach by the Bears this week, as its 2024 NFL Assistant Coach of the Year.
