EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Thursday used standard elevations to promote defensive end Kenny Willekes and linebacker Tuf Borland to their game-day roster hours before hosting the Steelers.
Willekes, a seventh-round pick in 2020 who missed all of his rookie season because of injury, is in line to play his fourth game.
He played 16 snaps on defense in his NFL debut against Dallas in Week 8 and followed with 41 snaps at defense at Baltimore when he totaled seven tackles, two quarterback hits and split a sack.
Willekes landed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list but returned to action last week at Detroit. The Michigan native played 37 defensive snaps and recorded two tackles.
Borland is poised to make his NFL debut after spending the season up to this point on Minnesota's practice squad. The Illinois native joined the Vikings as an undrafted rookie out of Ohio State this spring.
Kickoff between Pittsburgh (6-5-1) and Minnesota (5-7) is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. (CT).
