Vikings running back Kene Nwangwu has enjoyed an offseason back home in Texas.
Kene, his fiancée Katlyn, along with their 2-year-old son Kaylum, drove from the Twin Cities down to Frisco and have kept busy in the sunshine.
From checking in on the construction status of their new home, to celebrating birthdays and holidays, this spring has been a special one for the family of three.
This is our fifth installment of "Offseason Diaries" which gives a glimpse into players' adventures with loved ones before football starts back up. Earlier this month, we featured Josh Metellus and his family’s trip to Disneyland, Camryn Bynum's international travels and work in the Philippines, Andrew DePaola's mix of business and family time at the NFLPA meetings and Garrett Bradbury soaking in his first offseason as a father.
Note: The below diary entries were written by Kene and Katlyn from their perspective.
Back home to Texas
After the season, we escaped the Minnesota cold and headed down south to Texas, where we're building our first home. It was so fun to see Kaylum run around this special space that's really taking shape.
While in Texas, we attempted to teach Kaylum how to water "Gigi's" garden.
We ate some good BBQ! According to TikTok food reviewer Keith Lee, Hutchins BBQ in Frisco is THE BEST in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. We can definitely attest to that … it was delicious.
Turned 26 & 2
We celebrated Kene and Kaylum's birthdays! They were born on the same day and, freaky enough, their times of birth are just 1 minute apart.
It was fun to see Kene turn 26, the same as his Vikings jersey number!
To Nashville with love
We traveled to Nashville last month and were able to have a parents' night out – rather, a parents' weekend away – getting to celebrate Ariel and Theo Jackson's wedding! It was so much fun getting to see everyone, catch up on how their offseasons have been, checking out some cool restaurants in the Nashville area and, of course, getting to celebrate the happy couple.
Everyone was glitzed and glammed out for the big night, per request from the bride and groom. An all-black, black-tie, gala affair – I think we understood the assignment! It was such a blessing being able to celebrate and be a part of the newlyweds' day, and we can't wait to see what their future holds as the new Mr. and Mrs. Jackson!
Celebrated Easter
We headed back to Texas to spend Easter with family and had a good ol' egg hunt for Kaylum – he was very proud of his collection.
Appreciate y'all Vikings fans for tagging along with us this offseason! From wedding celebrations to our li'l Kay man turning 2, it has been a very eventful one. Can't wait to get back in Minnesota and continue to put in work with the guys.
SKOL VIKINGS!
