EAGAN, Minn. — One could say Justin Jefferson put the league on notice (as if he already hadn't).
One can also say the league noticed Jefferson's dominant performance Sunday against the Packers.
The second-year receiver wore a Randy Moss tribute T-shirt during warmups, started ablaze with 104 yards in the first quarter and put the game away with a dramatic go-ahead touchdown.
The final tally was eight catches for 169 yards and touchdowns of 9 and 23 yards in a 34-31 win for the Vikings. It was Jefferson's 11th game with 100 or more yards, tying him with Moss for the most in a Vikings player's first two seasons.
Jefferson was announced Wednesday by the NFL as the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 11. It is the first such recognition for Jefferson.
The 104 yards in the first quarter rank fourth in team history behind Hassan Jones (118 against Pittsburgh in 1986) and Moss (109 against Tampa Bay in 1999 and 107 against Dallas in 1998).
Jefferson is the first Vikings receiver to win Offensive Player of the Week honors since Stefon Diggs did so in Week 2 of 2016 (also in a win against the Packers).
Both of Jefferson's touchdown catches against Green Bay occurred on third downs, helping him add to his NFL-leading 425 receiving yards on third downs this season. He lined up in the backfield and ran an option route on the first score, and he later defeated 1-on-1 coverage to high-point a ball delivered by Kirk Cousins in the face of a Packers blitz.
Jefferson's 312 yards in the past two games are tied with Sidney Rice for the fifth-highest output by a Vikings receiver in consecutive games. Only Moss (331 in 1999), Paul Flatley (330 in 1963), Gene Washington (324 in 1969) and Moss (316 in 1998) have racked up higher totals in consecutive games.
Minnesota has had four receivers garner the Offensive Player of the Week award since 2000. Moss (Week 10 in 2001) and Sidney Rice (Week 10 in 2009) are the other two receivers. Adam Thielen garnered Special Teams Player of the Week honors in 2014 before becoming a starting receiver.
The Vikings have had 21 different players combine for 30 NFL Player of the Week awards (offense, defense or special teams) since Head Coach Mike Zimmer's hire in 2014.
