Justin Jefferson Named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for November

EAGAN, Minn. – Justin Jefferson delivered big-time all through November, and now he's getting an early Christmas present.

Jefferson has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month, the NFL announced Thursday morning.

The Vikings receiver had a stellar November. Over four games, he racked up 29 catches for 480 yards and three touchdowns.

Jefferson's top performance of the month came at Buffalo, where his 10 catches for a career-high 193 yards helped fuel Minnesota's comeback win.

"I looked J.J. in his eyes and said, 'Man, this game is going to come down to me or you right now.' That's how the game was going, and Kirk [Cousins] was looking his way, and he was making plays," Vikings running back Dalvin Cook said postgame. "The ball was catching him at some point. That one down on the goal line … they can't cover it no better. J.J. is just one of those special players I'm blessed to be playing with in my career."

Jefferson continues to make highlight-reel grabs seemingly every game, including his astonishing, one-handed catch over Bills cornerback Cam Lewis for a 32-yard gain on fourth-and-18. The play earned his gloves and arm sleeve a spot on display at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He was designated as that weekend's NFC Offensive Player of the Week. Though Jefferson appreciates the honors, he's quick to prioritize the team and the win/loss columns.

"It is what it is. As long as you're doing what you need to do for your team, as long as … we're all having smiles on our face, that's all that really matters," Jefferson said. "Getting the Player of the Week is cool, getting the accolades are fun, but as long as you're winning, that's what matters."

Jefferson's stats last month very closely aligned with November 2021, in which Jefferson also won NFC Offensive Player of the Month after recorded 24 catches for 464 yards and three touchdowns. He is the first receiver in team history to win the award more than once.

Entering Sunday's game against the Jets, Jefferson is tied with Adam Thielen for fourth in franchise history with 21 career 100-yard receiving yard games. His 4,248 career receiving yards already rank 11th in Vikings history and have set an NFL record for the most in a player's first three seasons.

Jefferson is the second Viking this year to receive an NFC Player of the Month honor, after outside linebacker Za'Darius Smith did so on defense for October.

Jefferson, Kene Nwangwu (Week 12 vs. Patriots), Smith (Week 8 vs. Cardinals), punter Ryan Wright (Week 6 at Dolphins) and kicker Greg Joseph (Week 4 vs. Saints) all have received NFC Player of the Week honors this season.
