EAGAN, Minn. — Justin Jefferson on Thursday helped launch the official trailer for the Netflix docuseries Receiver with a clip in which he explains his passion for football.
"I never played to be the richest. I played because I love the game," said Jefferson, who last week became the highest-paid non-QB in the NFL. The contract extension fulfilled a childhood dream that began when Jefferson was an "undersized kid" in Louisiana.
Through his first four seasons, Jefferson has emerged from that frame and become one of the most dominant NFL players, shattering team and league records along the way.
"I have an alter ego," Jefferson added. "You know, when I start putting these chains on, start putting the teeth in …"
The shot cuts to Jefferson laughing, as he takes a break from film to look at the camera from a cozy chair.
The docuseries, which is from the same producers as 2023's wildly successful Quarterback, will spotlight Jefferson, Detroit's Amon-Ra St. Brown, Las Vegas' Davante Adams and San Francisco do-everything receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle.
The spotlight of Kittle leads to a cameo by Vikings safety Harrison Smith. A clip from "The Hitman" striking Kittle on an incomplete pass in the 2023 Monday Night Football game between the 49ers and Vikings is included.
A mic'd up Kittle said, "Oh, that was mean, Harrison. My wife is mad at you."
The series will launch exclusively on Netflix on July 10.
