2024 PFWA Honors Spotlight Justin Jefferson, Jonathan Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel & Byron Murphy Jr.

Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, outside linebackers Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel, and cornerback Byron Murphy, Jr., have been recognized with selection to the 2024 All-NFL (Jefferson) and All-NFC Teams (Jefferson, Greenard, Van Ginkel & Murphy), the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA) announced Monday.

The PFWA has selected an All-NFL team since 1966, and All-AFC and All-NFC teams since 1992. The PFWA conducts separate voting ballots open to all members for the All-NFL, All-AFC and All-NFC teams.

This is the second time in Jefferson's five NFL seasons that he has been named to the PFWA All-NFL Team, joining the 2022 campaign in which he shattered franchise records for receptions (128) and receiving yards (1,809) to lead the NFL in both categories.

This season, Jefferson totaled 103 receptions for 1,533 yards and 10 touchdowns in helping Minnesota go 14-3 and make the NFC Playoffs.

He and former LSU teammate Ja'Marr Chase, who won the receiving triple crown this season, were the two receivers selected to the All-NFL Team.

The PFWA chooses one player at QB, two at RB, two at WR, one at TE, one at C, two at G and two at T on offense. The PFWA chooses two at DE, two at DT, two at OLB, one at MLB, two at CB and two at S.

Additionally, a kicker, punter, punt returner, kickoff returner and special teamer (sorry, no love for long snappers) are chosen for the PFWA's Special Teams selections.

The All-NFL Team pulls from the NFC and the AFC, taking players that voters decided were the best of the best across the league, but the PFWA also spotlights players within each conference. Ties among players occurred at the DT and MLB spots, so three of the former and two of the latter made the All-NFC Team.

Greenard and Van Ginkel, who both garnered Pro Bowl selections in their first season as Vikings, swept the OLB category in the NFC.

Greenard recorded 12 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, 22 QB hits and four forced fumbles. He started every game of a season for the first time in his career.

Van Ginkel ranked second on the Vikings with 11.5 sacks and also tallied 18 tackles for loss. He added 19 QB hits, six passes defensed, a forced fumble and returned both of his interceptions for touchdowns while starting every game of a season for the first time in his career.

Murphy led the Vikings with a career-best six interceptions. He recorded 81 tackles, six tackles for loss, 14 passes defensed and a forced fumble. Murphy started all 17 games and played 1,060 snaps on defense (93 percent).
