MINNEAPOLIS — Another Sunday, another round of milestones for Justin Jefferson.
The Vikings receiver recorded his 400th career reception, tying Ahmad Rashad for eighth in Vikings franchise history, on Sunday against the 49ers.
Jefferson tied Rashad with his fourth catch of the game — a 15-yarder over the middle during Minnesota's final possession of the first half. The drive ended with a 39-yard field goal by Will Reichard for a 13-7 halftime lead.
Jefferson's third reception of the game was one for the ages. On second-and-9 from the Minnesota 3-yard line, the Vikings got aggressive and reaped the reward.
The offensive line gave Sam Darnold a protected pocket, and Darnold uncorked a deep one that Jefferson ran under in stride. He Super Tecmo Bowled the Niners defense by zipping to the 20-yard marker on his left before reversing course and winning the race to the right pylon. Jalen Nailor hustled down the field to make sure Jets landed in the end zone.
It was the second-longest pass play in team history behind a 99-yard toss by Gus Frerotte to Bernard Berrian in 2008.
Playing in his 62nd career game, Jefferson tied a record for fastest player to 6,000 receiving yards, matching a mark set by set Pro Football Hall of Famer Lance Alworth (62 games) with the Chargers in the 1960s.
Jefferson entered the day with 5,958 receiving yards, needing 42 to join the 6,000-yard club.
He totaled 133 in the first half, recording his 30th career game with at least 100 receiving yards and his 20th with 125 or more.
Alworth recorded his 30th career 100-yard performance in his 64th career game and his 20th with 125 or more in his 63rd game.
