EAGAN, Minn. – The Vikings have agreed to terms on a contract extension with tight end Johnny Mundt.

Mundt reached an agreement to stay in Minnesota before hitting free agency, the team announced Friday.

Mundt spent the past two seasons with the Vikings, starting 12 of 34 games. He's totaled 36 catches for 312 yards and two receiving touchdowns, as well as played a significant role as a blocking tight end.

He initially joined Minnesota in 2022 after spending the first five seasons of his career with the Rams.

Los Angeles signed Mundt as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon in 2017. Mundt overlapped with Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and Offensive Coordinator Wes Phillips at the Rams and reconnected with both in Minnesota in 2022 after they won Super Bowl LVI.

Mundt is part of a Vikings tight ends room that includes T.J. Hockenson, who underwent ACL surgery in February; Josh Oliver; and Nick Muse, whom the Vikings re-signed Tuesday.
