The Vikings made a handful of roster moves Wednesday afternoon to shuffle up their 53-man roster.
Minnesota put tight end Irv Smith, Jr., running back Kene Nwangwu and wide receiver Dan Chisena on Injured Reserve. League rules state those players must miss at least the first three games of the 2021 season.
Smith suffered a meniscus injury in Friday's preseason finale and underwent surgery Wednesday morning. Nwangwu injured his knee in the preseason opener on Aug. 14. Chisena got dinged up in practice on Aug. 24 when he landed awkwardly after making a leaping catch.
All three players made the initial 53-man roster that was announced Tuesday afternoon. If the Vikings had put those three players on Injured Reserve yesterday, they would have had to miss the entire season.
