The Vikings and the NFL announced the 2016 preseason schedule for Minnesota on Thursday. The four-game slate that the Vikings will play features multiple storylines, including the football opening of U.S. Bank Stadium in an Aug. 28 game that will be televised nationally by FOX, and the first return by Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer to Cincinnati, where he was successful as Bengals defensive coordinator from 2008-13.
Minnesota is 25-17-1 combined in preseasons all-time against the teams it will visit (Cincinnati and Seattle) and host (San Diego and Los Angeles) in 2016.

Week 1: Minnesota at Cincinnati
Vikings vs. Bengals (2-3)

Minnesota hosted Cincinnati in 1976 (27-13) and 1989 (17-10).

Minnesota first hosted Seattle in 1982 and won 7-3 in the first game at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. The Vikings also hosted the Seahawks in 1985 (27-10, L), 1993 (23-10, W), 2008 (34-17, L) and 2010 (24-13, W).

The Vikings are 6-4 in preseason games against the Rams franchise, including 4-4 when the club has called Los Angeles home and 2-0 in meetings when the Rams were in St. Louis.
The Rams won 21-17 in 1961 in a game that was the Vikings first in Minnesota (Sept. 10) after the fledgling franchise first opened in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The teams met in Portland, Oregon, the following preseason, with L.A. prevailing 33-24.
The Vikings visited the Rams in California in 1963 (27-3, W), 1964 (34-23, W), 1977 (22-17, W), 1981 (34-31, L) and 1989 (24-14, L). Minnesota won its only preseason contest against the Rams in St. Louis 28-7 in 2010.
In addition to 1961, Minnesota hosted Los Angeles in 1966 (24-10, W) and St. Louis (26-6, W) in 1997.
