EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings have placed Ben Ellefson on Injured Reserve.
The tight end appeared on Minnesota's injury report this week with knee and foot injuries. He limped inside early in Wednesday's practice.
Ellefson, who was added on Sept. 1, had primarily played a blocking role in 2021. He was on the field for 74 snaps over four games and did not record a reception.
Minnesota now has two tight ends — Tyler Conklin and Chris Herndon — on its 53-man roster.
Conklin leads the position group with 22 catches for 240 yards and a touchdown, while Herndon has one reception — a 2-yard touchdown against the Panthers.

The Vikings also have a trio of tight ends on the practice squad who could help out.
Veteran Luke Stocker was added to the practice squad on Oct. 13 and was elevated for the Week 6 game in Carolina, where he played 10 snaps. The 33-year-old Stocker has appeared in 131 career games.
Minnesota also has third-year player Brandon Dillon and fifth-round rookie Zach Davidson on the practice squad.
Neither Dillon nor Davidson has been active for a game this season.
