EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Monday announced the placement of four players on three different reserve lists.

Linebacker and core special teamer Ryan Connelly has been placed on Injured Reserve. Connelly suffered an injury while covering the opening kickoff of the second half Thursday against Pittsburgh.

The Eden Prairie native has played in 26 games for Minnesota since joining his hometown team in 2020. Connelly played on 198 special teams snaps last season and 216 this season.

Minnesota also announced running back Alexander Mattison and receiver Dan Chisena have been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Additionally, guard Kyle Hinton has been placed on the Practice Squad Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Mattison is in his third season of backing up Dalvin Cook. He has started three games and appeared in all 13 this season, recording a career-high 116 carries.

The 2019 third-round pick has totaled 432 yards and two scores on the ground. Mattison also has recorded career highs in receptions (24) and receiving yards (183). One catch has gone for a touchdown.

Chisena has been a speedy special teamer in his first two seasons. He played 259 snaps with the group in 14 games as an undrafted rookie last season. Chisena has played 158 special teams snaps and on 10 offensive snaps in eight games this season, but he has not been targeted with a pass.

Hinton, a seventh-round pick in 2020, has not played in a regular-season game. He's been on Minnesota's practice squad all season.

The Vikings were able to help their depth at running back Monday by claiming Wayne Gallman off waivers.

Gallman first entered the NFL with the Giants in 2017 as a fourth-round pick. He totaled 1,444 yards and nine scores on 338 carries for New York and added 80 receptions for 498 yards and two touchdowns.

The Georgia native who played collegiately at Clemson joined the Atlanta Falcons just before the season started (he had spent time during training camp with San Francisco). Gallman rushed 28 times for 104 yards and caught one pass for a gain of 21 in six games for the Falcons.
