Eden Prairie, MN (December 22, 2015) – Vikings RBAdrian Peterson** has been selected by players, fans and coaches to the 2016 NFL Pro Bowl.
Peterson currently ranks first in the NFL in rushing with 1,314 yards and is tied for 3rd in the league with 9 rushing scores. His 9-yard rushing touchdown at Arizona (12/10) gave him 100 career total touchdowns, the 2nd most in Vikings history. He has also topped the 100-yard rushing mark 6 times this season, the most by any player in the league.
Peterson's 7th Pro Bowl selection ties him for 4th-most in Vikings history with T Ron Yary. He trails only DT Randall McDaniel (11), DT Alan Page (9) and WR Cris Carter (8) for most in team history.
In 2007, Peterson was named the 2007 Pro Bowl MVP as a rookie when he rushed for 129 yards on 16 carries and 2 touchdowns. He currently holds the Pro Bowl record for career rushing touchdowns with 4.
This is the third straight year that the Pro Bowl has adopted the "unconferenced" selection format. The two teams will be drafted by Pro Bowl captains Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, with the game taking place four days later (1/31/16) at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.
