Adrian Peterson Returns to Vikings Practice

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. —Adrian Peterson has returned to practice, the Vikings announced when the running back participated in a walk-through session Wednesday morning.

Peterson was placed on injured reserve after Week 2, but the Vikings have used their option to bring one player back to the 53-man roster under the NFL's "Designated For Return" rule.

Under the NFL's injured reserve-designated for return policy:

*A player whom the club wishes to designate for return is permitted to return to practice for a period not to exceed 21 days. The club is required to notify the League office that the player has been "Designated For Return" on the first day the player begins to practice. *

Peterson, the team's all-time leading rusher, has been recovering from surgery on a torn meniscus he suffered against Green Bay in Week 2.

Peterson totaled 50 yards on 31 carries in the first two weeks of the season.

The three-time NFL rushing champ and 2012 NFL MVP has 11,725 yards and 97 rushing yards on 2,412 carries (4.9 yards per carry).
