EAGAN, Minn. — The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine's ramp-up means it's a good time to check back with mock drafts for Version 3.0 of the 2024 Mock Draft Tracker.
The Minnesota Vikings hold the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and have eight additional picks from Rounds 2 to 7. The reverse order of the previous regular season standings determines the draft order.
The Vikings have picked inside the top 12 just 23 times in franchise history. Twice those selections netted a quarterback, Christian Ponder (2011 No. 12 pick) and Daunte Culpepper (1999 No. 11 pick).
Other notable top 12 selections include Adrian Peterson (2007 No. 7 pick), Bryant McKinnie (2002 No. 7 pick), Kevin Williams (2003 No. 9 pick) and Anthony Barr (2014 No. 9 pick). Three players selected in the top 12 — Carl Eller (1964 No. 6 pick), Ron Yary (1968 No. 1 pick), and Chris Doleman (1985 No. 4 pick) — made it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The 2024 NFL Draft will be held from April 25-27. The first round begins on April 25. Rounds 2 and 3 follow on April 26, and the final four rounds will occur April 27.
Here is the third version of our Vikings 2024 Mock Draft Tracker, which includes 17 recent predictions from across football media (Version 1.0 and Version 2.0).
Edge rusher was the most common position (nine mocks), and Alabama's Dallas Turner was the most common player projected to the Vikings (six mocks).
There were five instances of a quarterback being projected, with Michigan's J.J. McCarthy showing up three times.

The Athletic's NFL Staff (Alec Lewis for Vikings pick in a virtual mock draft)
Feb. 22, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Dallas Turner, Edge Defender, Alabama
The Vikings were willing to move up to snag a quarterback, but the price was too high. The Vikings were also willing to move down to add more premium picks to the holster, but there were few takers. In the end, Turner made too much sense. Minnesota needs defensive talent, and while Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy II and Florida State defensive end Jared Verse offered intrigue, Turner is the best fit. He's young. He's productive. He's versatile. He's dogged. Minnesota hasn't drafted a player on the defensive front in Round 1 since 2013, and it's time to change that.

The Athletic's Nick Baumgardner
Feb. 12, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Dallas Turner, Edge Defender, Alabama
Danielle Hunter is about to hit free agency, so while Brian Flores did great work for the Vikings last year, he needs help. Turner (6-4, 252) is the most athletic edge in the draft with tons of twitch and burst — not dissimilar to Will Anderson, Jr., his ex-Alabama teammate. QB also could be in play.
The predicted pick at No. 42: Michael Penix, Jr., Quarterback, Washington
We'll see what happens with Kirk Cousins. But the Vikings have too much talent on offense to waste more time with uncertainty at quarterback. Penix had a worse Senior Bowl week than [Bo] Nix, frankly, but he was the most confident vertical passer in America last year and showed terrific toughness and perseverance throughout his college career.

Feb. 20, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Dallas Turner, Edge Defender, Alabama
I wouldn't rule out the Vikings drafting a quarterback early, but I'm not sure they'll have the ammunition to trade up for one. With Danielle Hunter heading for free agency, they address the need for pass-rush help.

Feb. 22, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 7 (after a projected trade with Tennessee): J.J. McCarthy, Quarterback, Michigan
Much to the dismay of a large portion of Draft Twitter (sorry, Elon — Draft X sounds weird), McCarthy appears destined to be a top-10 pick. Skeptics understandably bemoan the relative scarcity of pure pocket passing J.J. put on display in Michigan's run-first offense, but the 21-year-old did showcase the kind of athleticism that could play quite well in Kevin O'Connell's play-action/bootleg scheme.

NFL.com's Dan Parr
Feb. 16, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Jared Verse, Edge Defender, Florida State
With free agency potentially leaving the Vikings thin off the edge, Verse's relentless effort will be welcomed by DC Brian Flores.

NFL.com's Chad Reuter
Feb. 12, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Dallas Turner, Edge Defender, Alabama
Assuming Kirk Cousins re-signs with the Vikings, the team takes Turner to replenish its soon-to-be depleted pass-rush depth. Minnesota makes its move for a quarterback in Round 2, trading fourth-, fifth- and sixth-round picks to Carolina to swap second-round picks and grab Oregon's Bo Nix as Cousins' successor [at No. 33 overall].

NFL.com's Cynthia Frelund
Feb. 9, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Dallas Turner, Edge Defender, Alabama
Turner's burst ranks among the top 20 percent of edge prospects in my 10-season sample. He doesn't lose speed/velocity when traveling in a non-straight line, which means his pressures cause disruption more frequently (he posted 10 sacks last season, up from four as a sophomore). I'm pretty sure Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores would give GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah a hand-written thank-you note if Turner ends up the choice here.

NFL.com's Lance Zierlein
Feb. 5, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Jared Verse, Edge Defender, Florida State
The Vikings have big free agency decisions looming at defensive end. I see the explosive Verse as the best option at a position of need.

The predicted pick at No. 3 (after a trade with New England):Drake Maye, Quarterback, New England

The predicted pick at No. 3 (after a trade with New England):Drake Maye, Quarterback, North Carolina
Minnesota has perused the rookie quarterback market over the past few years and has not been in a position to pounce. I tend to think New England WILL draft a quarterback, but the possibility that it is not in love with the quarterback prospects available has to be considered. In this instance, the Patriots give the Vikings the heir apparent to Kirk Cousins.

CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso
Feb. 16, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: J.J. McCarthy, Quarterback, Michigan
The Vikings go with McCarthy, who has plus arm talent and athleticism, two things the quarterback spot has lacked in Minnesota during the productive Kirk Cousins era.

CBS Sports' Kyle Stackpole
Feb. 19, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Terrion Arnold, Cornerback, Alabama
The Vikings defense definitely showed improvement under first-year Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores, but it could definitely use another top-flight cornerback to pair with Byron Murphy, Jr. Terrion Arnold, having arrived at Alabama as one of the top safety prospects in the nation, has only been playing cornerback for a few years, but he has the versatility, athleticism and ball skills (five interceptions, 17 pass breakups in 2023) to elevate the Minnesota secondary for years to come.

CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson
Feb. 26, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Quinyon Mitchell, Cornerback, Toledo
Mitchell is long, fluid and was a pass-breakup machine at Toledo. And that's exactly who he was at the Senior Bowl — to the point that he'll be in the CB1 conversation.

CBS Sports' Tom Fornelli
Feb. 26, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Dallas Turner, Edge Defender, Alabama
I don't think this is a great class of edge rushers, but Turner is the highest on my board. He can line up in a two-, three- or four-point stance thanks to an explosive first step. He can be overpowered and lose leverage against the run, but I don't know that there's a better pure pass-rusher in the class. Might draw a roughing call or two, though.

Pro Football Network's Tony Catalina
Feb. 25, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Bo Nix, Quarterback, Oregon
This is an interesting pick and spot. The future for Kirk Cousins is uncertain, and the Vikings may try to move up and secure one of the big three QBs that have gone earlier. However, here they stand pat and take Bo Nix.
Nix has played a lot of football and does some things well that scouts and coaches may be able to fall in love with. It may take a perfect scenario for it to work, especially early on, but this could be a good spot for the former Oregon Duck and Auburn Tiger.

Pro Football Network's A.J. Schulte
Feb. 24, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Laiatu Latu, Edge Defender, UCLA
I believe Cousins will return to the Vikings, and with the way this mock fell, the Vikings probably feel grateful he did. With Cousins secured under center, the Vikings address their defense by reinforcing their pass rush in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft.
Danielle Hunter, D.J. Wonnum, and Marcus Davenport are all set to hit free agency. Even if Minnesota opts to bring one of them back, they can't afford to keep all three. Laiatu Latu is the best pass rusher in this year's class and would give them a blue-chip pass rusher coming off the edge.
The predicted pick at No. 42: Junior Colson, Linebacker, Michigan
Back-to-back linebackers come off the board here, but they're two players with very different styles. The Vikings had an exciting rookie year from undrafted linebacker Ivan Pace, Jr., but they need another talented player next to Pace to boost their defensive front.
Former third-round pick Brian Asamoah II struggled with injury, and many of their depth players are pending free agents. Junior Colson's presence along the inside and ability in coverage can free up Pace to crash downhill and create havoc, much like he did as a rookie.

The 33rd Team's Connor Livesay
Feb. 26, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: Terrion Arnold, Cornerback, Alabama
The Minnesota Vikings are in an interesting spot. They have a big hole at quarterback and many more on defense. The Vikings could go in many different directions with the 11th overall pick. But with the top four quarterbacks off the board, selecting the top cornerback or edge rusher would likely be the call for the Vikings. Until we get a clearer picture of what the Vikings plan to do with Danielle Hunter, taking my top-ranked defender and the CB1 in this class in Terrion Arnold is an excellent fit for their defense in the middle of the first round.
The predicted pick at No. 42: Zach Frazier, Center, West Virginia

The Draft Network's Brentley Weissman
Feb. 25, 2024
The predicted pick at No. 11: J.J. McCarthy, Quarterback, Michigan
Look, I have been on record that there is no denying J.J. McCarthy's physical tools. He is athletic, has a big arm, and has good overall size. There's no question about his flashes because when he dials it up, it sure looks pretty. With that said, I do think it's fair to question why Michigan seemed to limit his exposure and treat him with kid gloves. This is a risk for the Vikings, but I think it's one they can afford to take.
