Ward signed with LSU as a three-star recruit in the 2019 class, playing in 13 games for the national champions that fall (four tackles, three pass breakups) just one year after picking off six passes as a senior at Colquitt County High School in Georgia. He intercepted three passes as a sophomore in 2020, returning one for a touchdown (29 tackles, six pass breakups, one blocked kick in nine games played, three starts) and then moved to safety in the spring of 2021. Ward started 11 games there in the fall, posting 71 tackles, two interceptions, four pass breakups. He started nine of 13 games played in 2022 (60 tackles, 2.5 for loss, one interception, four pass breakups) before opting out of the team's bowl game. -- by Chad Reuter, NFL.com
