A three-star recruit from Vanguard High School in Florida, McBride impressed as a true freshman by averaging a strong 9.3 yards a carry in six games (47-439, four TDs). He was a second-team All-Conference USA pick as a sophomore, topping the Blazers with 1,371 yards and 13 scores on the ground (204 carries, 6.7 per; 3-19-6.3 receiving in 13 games, five starts). McBride was one of the top running backs in the country in 2022, receiving third-team Associated Press All-American and first-team all-conference honors by setting UAB single-season records with 1,713 rushing yards, 19 rushing scores and 7.4 yards per carry (233 totes). He led the FBS in yards per carry, ranked second in rushing yards and tied for third in rushing touchdowns.
