Vikings Postgame Report: The Vikings Defeat The Falcons 31-28, QB Joshua Dobbs Leads The Comeback | ATL | Week 9
Welcome to the Week 9 edition of the Vikings Postgame Report. The Vikings won a thrilling comeback victory 31-28, down in Atlanta. The Vikings saw a host of personnel substitutions take place in the game, including at the quarterback position. Rookie quarterback Jaren Hall started the game and played well until an injury at the goal line in the 1st Quarter sidelined him for the rest of the contest. Newly acquired quarterback Josh Dobbs stepped in for the rest of the game and led a go-ahead drive in the final 2 minutes of the game to secure the victory. Dobbs finished the game 20-of-30 passing for 158 yards and two touchdowns, plus he added another 66 yards rushing and a score on the ground. Running back Alexander Mattison and receiver Brandon Powell caught the two passing scores, while tight end T.J. Hockenson led the receiving corps with 7 receptions for 69 yards. Defensively, the crew was opportunistic. Cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. snagged an interception and Safety Josh Metellus pounced on a fumble, with both turnovers leading to the offense adding an additional 10 points. Linebacker Jordan Hicks led the team with 11 tackles and recorded the lone Vikings sack for the game. Kicker Greg Joseph was perfect on the day, kicking three field goals and two extra points. The Vikings will now come home and finish out their NFC South schedule against the Saints next Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium. Paul Allen and Pete Bercich recap the win, including: Josh Dobbs illusiveness, the defensive aggression against Heinicke, the adjustments made by the Vikings coaching staff, and the collective belief by the players in this locker room. Plus, Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and Quarterback Josh Dobbs both spoke to the media at the postgame press conference. All of this and more is in the 2023 Week 9 edition of the Vikings Postgame Report.
