Move-in day at Vikings training camp in Mankato is always a fun day, mainly because it signals the beginning of a new NFL season. But it’s also fun for a variety of other reasons, including the chance to catch up with players who have been away for a couple of months.
As the players were moving into Gage Hall on Wednesday, vikings.com took a moment to poll a few players about their training camp experiences. Check out what they had to say…
What is the most unique item you brought to camp this year?
Artis Hicks – Pictures of my kids
Tyrell Johnson – My own bike
Martin Nance – A jumbo-sized bag of gummy bears
Pat Williams – Four of my own pillows
What do you think of riding bikes from place-to-place during camp?
Hicks - The extra ten minutes it saves us from walking, that’s ten more minutes of sleep that we get.
Johnson - It’s kind of weird to see grown men riding bikes everywhere.
Nance - I think it’s cool. I mean, we want to be green!
Williams - I don’t like riding bikes. I wish everything was even closer together. We have a nice set up here, but I don’t like to ride bikes.
Who has the best video game skills on the team?
Hicks – Chris Kluwe
Johnson – I would have to say my roommate, Husain Abdullah
Nance – Chris Kluwe
Williams – Antoine Winfield
What do veterans tell rookies about training camp?
Hicks – Stay focused on the task at hand; and that’s making the team.
Johnson – They tell us that it’s a grind and that it will be tough.
Nance – Take it one day at a time.
Williams – I don’t talk to rookies, haha!
